Each fragile petal dreaming solely of arising... for Violin and Piano

Program notes

Each fragile petal dreaming solely of arising... was commissioned by violinist and poet Regina Buenaventura. One of the goals of this composition was to incorporate Buenaventura's poetry into the musical work in a subtle and nuanced manner. The words of the poem contain many vivid visual and auditory images, which inspired the interplay between the violin and piano as well as the ensuing musical gestures. The title of the work is a partial quotation of the last two lines of her poem Pygmalion.
