Resonance Engine was inspired by a series of interactive, electronic works which utilized delay lines, pitch shifting, and other electroacoustic techniques. These works inspired me to create a work that contained acoustic treatments of these electroacoustic techniques. One accidental characteristic of these works is the presence of “glitchy” material, areas where the computer may have had problems processing the sounds entering the system and the resulting output is not what was originally intended. I wanted to explore these imperfect treatments by dividing the work into nine segments where each segment would contain “glitchy” material.
